This article describes an old town in Montenegro that still exists as ruins today. This town was built before the common era and was very popular for pirates. Being inhabited by pirates, slave trade became a big thing in this area and continued to be for centuries following its creation. The article then tells a little more history about churches being made inside the town.
The biggest thing that I felt while reading this article is that even though this town had some very bad history to it, the Montenegrin people still regard it as something of their culture. This made me wonder why they keep it if it is a reminder of malice. I came to the conclusion that perhaps the people keep it as a reminder of something they used to do but should not do anymore. Another conclusion I made was that maybe it was just a tourist attraction.
This applies to the cultural aspect of Montenegro because it is a relic of what life used to be for them in the far past. Even thought this place is a reminder of bad deeds, bad deeds can still be considered a pat of culture. This article shows that people can hold bad deeds as their culture.
